Second Saturday ArtWalk
The February ArtWalk Helps Raise Money
for Three Charities!
This month, ArtWalk is more than just exhibits, shopping and good times. Three of this month's venues are donating a portion of their sales to great causes. Be sure to stop in at these locations and help them with their worthy endeavors.

Haitian earthquake survivor Bazil Justin with his company's
beautiful metal art creations.
La Isla Restaurant
2320 NW Market Street
Together with Splash of the Caribbean, they are featuring an art exhibit of Haitian paintings and recycled oil drum art pieces. Bazil Justin, owner of Zig Zag Atelier de Arte, is a survivor of the Haitian earthquake and is currently helping a camp of 60 homeless survivors in Port au Prince. It is his company that makes the metal art pieces shown at this ArtWalk.
La Isla has been able to funnel direct donations to this group from the US and Mexico through Western Union to help provide food, water, medicine and shelter, thus avoiding the bottlenecking and distribution issues with which many non-profits have been dealing. Western Union is currently offering money transfers to Haiti without handling charges.
You are encouraged to contact Bazil Justin directly if you would like to help his group of survivors. Part of the proceeds from this month’s exhibit will go to support his group of survivors. Currently they are in need of tents, mattresses and a propane stove so they don't have to cook with charcoal. Bazil can be reached by telephone at (509) 385-39978 or (5er09) 347-69450, or by email at zigzagatlelierart@yahoo.fr.
La Tienda Folk Art Gallery
2050 NW Market Street
This long-time supporter of crafts people from around the world are also showing handmade recycled oil drum sculptures from Haiti. This month they are donating 20% of the sales of these steel sculptures through Valentine’s Day. Help support the cause with a purchase. It's a gift from the heart to Haitians in need. See more at their website.
